Oahu consists of many astonishing scenic wonders and an awe-inspiring rainfall that produces numerous rainbows and a vast canopy of greenery. Most importantly, the rainfall in Oahu creates must-see waterfalls that can be discovered through a variety of hiking trails. 1. Waimea Falls

Located in Waimea Valley, Waimea Falls offers an assortment of sightseeing activities. Start your adventure by surrounding yourself with colorful, tropical plants as you stroll through the botanical gardens and ascend to the grand waterfall. Through twists and turns you will find yourself admiring the 30 ft. waterfall at the end of your journey, surrounded by an enormous pool.

To cool off, you can even take a jump in the water as Waimea Valley offers life jackets and lifeguards on duty. If you are feeling brave, swim all the way up to the waterfall to get a closer look! Visiting this waterfall after a substantial downpour is recommended for the best views.

2. Laie Falls

On the northeastern shore of Oahu near the town of Laie, you can discover Laie Falls. Observe lush tropical foliage along this 7 mile hike, including pine and bamboo forests paired with mountain and ocean views. At the end of your hike, you will stumble upon a 15 ft. waterfall surrounded by a refreshing, blue pool perfect for taking a quick dip. Pack your lunch or a quick snack along with you for a peaceful picnic by the water.

3. Likeke Falls

Likeke falls is a remarkable two-tiered waterfall that can be reached by strolling along two different hiking trails. For a full day’s worth of hiking, we recommend a lengthier option along the Old Pali Highway from the Pali Lookout. For a much shorter alternative to making your way towards the sights of Likeke Falls, we recommend starting at the bottom of the Ko’olau Golf Club and completing a brief walk up. Anticipate lush foliage alongside this trail as you ascend to a breathtaking two-tiered waterfall that cascades down about 20 ft. into a shallow pool, perfect for dipping your feet in for a quick cool down.

4. Maunawili Falls

Finally, hugging the Koolau Mountain Range and tucked within the Maunawili Valley, you will find this exciting and effortless 2 mile hike to Maunawili Falls. The trail will guide you across numerous streams along the way, allowing you to hop across rocks and wander over tree roots. Meander through tropical fruit groves as you reach the end of your hike, a 20 ft. waterfall with an exceptionally deep swimming hole. At Maunawili Falls, many swimmers will take their adventure to new heights by jumping from steep rocks into the pool below.

Before you begin your hike, we recommend preparing for any water you may encounter on the trails with good shoes to prevent you from slips and falls. We also recommend hiking with a friend or group and bringing plenty of water and mosquito repellent.
